So sorry this note is so long after Dr. Verini  passed. I did not realize there was an online obituary. Dr. Verini was the very best dentist I ever dealt with. I had extreme fear of dentists but he made the experience alot less stressful. His work was admired, his attitude al 
 ways pleasant and his prices were not astronomical.  Dr Verini you will be very much missed!!! Rest In Peace🙏

This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to write, so deeply has this loss affected me. A six year age difference means nothing in adulthood, but in one's youth it sets you a world apart. Mike was always the "kid cousin" who lived next door among his own set of pals, occasionally but only rarely Involved in us older ones' games. I basically got to know the adult Mike through Christmas Eves, as a matter of fact. Held at his parents' house, and later at Nick and Cindy's, the annual get-together (I now see) was truly our family's anchor. You may not have been in touch with most relatives the other 364 days, but once a year you could catch up and completely re-bond, providing a spiritual tonic that would propel you into the new year with a boost. That was the way in which I kept up with Mike, and every year I marvelled, as I do now, at his incredible lust for life. He was equally pleased to be in the company of the very young, the very old, and everyone in between. Whatever was happening, he was always upbeat and warm, picking up your friendship as if you'd just spoken yesterday. He had (and I mean this) the same quality I found in people like Bill Clinton, Mel Gibson, and William F. Buckley, Jr.: When you spoke with any of them, it was the most extraordinary thing that they gave you their full attention. For that period of time, you felt like the most important person in the world to them. And I am sure that that openness to others is one of the big secrets of Mike's success in life, because it was genuine, and when you are genuinely interested in people, people tend to love it and want to love you back.

Jean, I am so sorry that responsibilities and distance have kept me from experiencing the love and kindness everyone ascribes to you, a deficiency I hope we can remedy in coming years. It is awful that you were robbed of your husband way too soon. Michael and Brett, I pray that you fully appreciate your father's powerful goodness and stalwart heart.

And Ryan, it is unutterably sad that you never got to know your dad in his and your primes. Still, I hope that enough crazy anecdotes and teary memories from others will help you to partake of and reflect his unique spirit. I know this much: If there's anything to this genetics thing, there's something in your DNA that captures your dad's zest for living and passion for people. That's quite a legacy, and I hope you make great use of the glowing humanity he is passing on to you. I know we would all be proud, and Mike most of all, if a son of his proved to be as great and good a man as my kid cousin was. God bless him, and God bless you all.
