Robert Bryant Floersch, 92, of Dix Hills, NY died peacefully in his sleep on March 8, 2023. He was born in 1930 to Madeline Mashek and Emmanuel Bryant Floersch of Hempstead, NY. As a young teenager, Bob began his passion for woodworking with a business out of the family garage. Mentored by his uncle, Anthony Mashek, he learned quickly and soon became a master craftsman. Bob met his beloved wife, Ann Iacovone, on a double date and they married in 1950. He would often mention how great it was to be embraced by Ann's family, and he remained close to her siblings and their spouses, Jack and Marie; Anita and Pat and then Lou; and Joe and Coena.
Ann and Bob were true partners in every way - they supported each other in a family business, in raising three children and in their 57 years of marriage. Many wonderful family memories were from the times spent in the homes Bob, Ann and Anthony built in Fair Harbor, Fire Island. They especially loved hosting barbecues and holiday gatherings at the Dix Hills house surrounded by friends and family...the more the better.
For nearly 40 years, Bob worked for another mentor, Henry Venier, first at Lakeview Lumber and then Brentwood Lumber, which included customized crates for Grumman Aerospace, alongside Henry's two sons, Paul and Peter. In addition, Bob in his "free time" would work in his home's state of the art workshop to design and install countless kitchen and other woodwork projects. He was the first person to lend a hand to a family member or friend to develop a cabinet, a table...anything made from wood.
Bob's wife, Ann, passed away in 2007 and not a day went by that he did not remember her with loving thoughts and memories. He leaves behind his daughter Karen (John Giraudy), two sons Richard (Sue Wilkie) and Russell (Wendy Wylegala) and grandchildren Alix (Steven Thom), Natalie (Danny Malter), Cassie, Evan and Elizabeth and a great-granddaughter Maya. And a special thank you to Margaret Sica, Bob's 24/7 caregiver, who supported him with wonderful care.
Viewing will be Friday, March 24th at the Claude R. Boyd - Caratozzolo Funeral Home in Deer Park with an Internment at Pinelawn on Saturday, March 25th.
