Donald K Thomas

Don was born in Maine in 1929 and moved to south Florida in 1947. Don was a devoted husband and loving father. When there was a good time happening you could usually find Don at the center of the activity (If you remember the “farm” you know what we’re talking about).

Don founded Thomas Roofing Company in 1949 and was well respected for his roofing knowledge, work ethic and integrity. Don was a proud member of the Mahi Shrine Club and honored to belong to their Royal Order of the Jesters. He also served as a city commissioner in Deerfield for many years. Don maned the grill at many a Cracker Day as a member of the Deerfield Lions Club. However, Don’s proudest achievement in life was his family which he cherished.

Don is survived by his wife and true love of 67 years Millie, daughter Lesley Gaines (Rick), sons Steve Thomas and Clay Thomas; grandchildren Brent (Poliana), Blake (Elanie), Christina (Joe), Alexi, Jason, Jared, CJ, Carly, Marie and Taylor; great grandchildren Isabella, Emma, Savanna, Brayden and Brody; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and close friends. Special thanks to his caregivers Angie and Sonia. Don was predeceased by his sister Blanche and brother William Thomas.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at The Church at Deerfield Beach (701 NE 2nd Street).
