Halina was born in a small village in eastern Poland in 1927 to a farming family of 10 siblings. Poverty and difficult times during her childhood taught her to be tough and self-sufficient as a means of surviving and caring for family members. After the WWII, she got married and had 3 children.
At 53, despite the death of her husband, she immigrated to New York City seeking a better future for her family. She saved money by working multiple jobs and living modestly, eventually bringing both of her daughters’ entire families to the US. She lived to have 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In the 2nd half of her life, she found love, and happily remarried. She traveled the world and explored the outdoors for years, together with her 2nd husband John. They eventually moved together to Boca Raton, FL, where they enjoyed the retired life before his passing.
She loved and appreciated America, and the opportunities it provided her. She was frugal, practical, pragmatic, and uncompromising in how she lived her life. Halina’s love for family, and devotion to her Catholic faith, defined who she was to those who knew her. Her life was long and well-lived; a life of purpose, prayer and hard work.
Halina is survived by her children Danuta Rudzinska and Elzbieta Permuy, grandchildren Maggie Zaharoiu, Bartosz Dynak and Paulina Rudzinska, as well as her great-grandchildren Victoria McPherson and Matty Dynak.
