John Thomas Foye, 90, of Deerfield Beach, FL, and formerly of Elmira Heights, NY and Beacon, NY, passed away on September 8, 2015. He was born August 25, 1925 in Bronx, NY to Ella McKeon Foye and John “Jack” Foye. John was a distinguished business entrepreneur. In the time before voicemail, he sold answering machines through Dictaphone. He had the foresight to invest in the construction of cell towers, even before cell phones became popular. But above all, he was a devoted Father and Poppy. John was a member of the Moose Lodge in Newburgh, NY and Horse Heads, NY, and the American Legion in Deerfield Beach, FL. He was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and St. Joachim Church, both in Beacon, NY. John was a proud veteran of World War II. John was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Louise Elizabeth Nowell; infant son, John Jr.; and son-in-law, Morris Galaburda. John is survived by his children, Patricia A. Galaburda-Komisar, Dawn Stiles (Alex), Scott McConnell (fiancée, Beth Herten), Kathleen F. Foye, and Virginia L. McConnell; grandchildren, Carra A. Galaburda, John Thomas Galaburda, Aaron Stiles, Evan Stiles, Scotty McConnell (Maria), Darryl Bell, Dr. Elizabeth Gardianos (Chris), Katherine Bell, and Felicia Meyers; great-grandchildren, Kiarra Anne Tice, Janessa Bell, Tyler and Lilly McConnell, Liberty Bell, Landon Bell, Parker Bell, and Benji Bell. Private services for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in John’s name to Vitas Hospice, 5240 NW 33rd Ave #100, Ft Lauderdale, FL 33309 OR Lamercie Home, 4225 NW 25th Pl, Lauderhill, FL 33313. Heartfelt thanks to the entire Lamercie Home Family of Lauderhill, FL for the love, dedication, and quality care give to “Mr. Foye” (Grumpy Bear) over the past four years. Special thanks to Father O’Dwery at St. Malachi Catholic Church, Tamarac, FL, who showed true compassion and kindness toward his fellow Irishman, Johnny Foye, by rushing out (at a moment’s notice and after dark) to pray beside Johnny prior to his meeting with Our Heavenly Father.
