She graduated from Cumberland (RI) High School in 1952 and trained as a nurse at Newport (RI) Hospital. She met James Martin while he was stationed at the Navy base there. They married in San Diego, CA, had two daughters, and lived in various locations as part of military deployment before eventually settling in Ledyard, CT. After divorcing, Pearl moved to Groton, CT. For several years she decorated and sold cakes and holiday candies. She also worked part-time in traffic control for the Town of Groton. In 1997 she moved to Deerfield Beach, FL where she resided in the Natura neighborhood for 26 years. She enjoyed food and cooking and in later years turned adult coloring into an art.
She was sadly predeceased by her younger daughter Rosalind A Martin. She is survived by her daughter Teresa Martin and granddaughter Allegra Martin of Eastham, MA, and her niece Sandra and husband Dannie Heffner of Cumberland, RI.
