William J Offerle

William Joseph Offerle, born December 14, 1921, to Anthony J. and Gabriella (Strebig) Offerle and died March 27 in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Bill Offerle graduated from Central Catholic High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1939 and from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1949. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and retired from the Army Reserve with the rank of captain. He retired from Holmes Serum Company in 1992.

While living in Fort Wayne, he was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survived by his wife, June (Pepe) Offerle, and children Cmdr. Robert A. Offerle, USN (Ret.) of Tucson, AZ; Judith A. Offerle (William Murphy) of Winnetka, IL; Paula (Warren) Nesbitt of Bethesda, MD; and Margaret Offerle (Timothy Kerr) of Grosse Pointe Park, MI; and grandchildren Sarah R. Murphy (Shihwan Chung) of Chicago, IL; William E. Murphy (Mark Copestake) of Wilmette, IL; and Shannon L. Kerr of Grosse Pointe Park, MI; and great grandchildren Connor W. Chung and Caitlin E. Chung of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, S. Carter Kerr.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 pm Thursday, March 30 at Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home, Deerfield Beach, FL. Funeral Mass at 9:30 am, Friday, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Deerfield Beach, FL. Burial at 9:30 am on Monday, April 3, at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in William Offerle’s memory to Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH; St. Ambrose Church, Deerfield Beach, FL; and the Special Olympics.
