Alfreda Jo Sikes

Alfreda Jo Sikes, 81 year-old resident of Del City, Oklahoma, passed away May 2, 2011 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Born May 14, 1929 in Hobart, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Audy B. Smith and Eva Dilbeck Smith. Jo was a longtime LPN working as a nurse at Southwest Medical Center; the Bone & Joint Hospital; Wilson's Packing Plant; and several other places. She loved working with her hands. She did needlepoint; Quilting; Knitting; Crocheting; and Ceramics and did them all very well. Jo was an avid gardener growing both flowers and vegetables. She delighted in using "kitchen gadgets" to help in cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred Sikes; two brothers, Alvin and J.B. Smith; and one sister, Vanita Ramsey. Survivors include 1 son, Terry and his wfe Sherry Sikes of Del City, Oklahoma; 1 daughter, Pamela K. and her husband Robert Shon of Manassas, Virginia; 1 sister, Iris Edwards of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Cynthia McCain; Dana Hood; Aaron Shon; and Kevin Shon; 5 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel, 5005 SE 29th St., Del City, Oklahoma, 73115 with burial following at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma.
