God joyfully welcomed our Cynthia Kay Stephens to heaven on Saturday, December 12th, at only 59 years of age. The day and month itself, along with the fact that she passed at noon, has religious significance. The number 12-12-12 is an angelic number, a reminder that the angles are supporting us through this struggle. What this number also signifies is positivity, and no better word describes Cindy. Even throughout her suffering and illness she remained at peace, accepted her fate, and trusted completely in God’s will. Her last wish was that her journey through illness would bring all those she loved closer together, strengthen their relationship with God, seek and praise Him in all circumstances, and to live a life filled with gratitude.
She is survived by her first and only love, her best friend, husband of 41 years and high school sweetheart, Larry Dean Stephens; Her daughter, Jennifer Stephens; her dearest son, Jason Stephens; daughter-in-law, Shawna Stephens; grandchildren, Cade and Rayne; Mother and Father-in-Law, Harold and Janice Stephens, who cherished her as their own daughter. Her brothers and sister, Charles, William, and Lisa Avers; brother and sisters-in-law, Robert, Mel, and JoEllen Stephens. Several beloved nieces, nephews, and cherished friends survive her as well. She is proceeded in death by her mother, father, and brother; Patsy, Bob, and Rick Avers. Grandchildren; Taylor Grace and Joshua Knight.
Cindy was a peace-maker, a servant of God with the strongest faith. She not only gave us life but is now, through her memory offering us the chance to have eternal life with her. She was a simple woman who found happiness in everyday life. She taught us to pray and how to be content in this busy world. She taught us to believe in ourselves and know that we could do anything. She taught us to never look back or worry about the future, but instead live in the moment. The last person she ever considered was herself. Her mind was always concerned with her family. She lived each day for us. She was a listener, a consoler, the kind of person that you could talk to for hours and who would listen intently. She was compassionate, affectionate, friendly, kind, giving, loving, and protective of those she loved. Giving back to her meant simply spending time with her, and that is what we were all able to do throughout her sickness. She was able to see each of one us before she passed and we should all be thankful for the fact that we had time to spend with the person we never imagined would leave us first.
Her love of nature and flowers were present in how she lived. She knew how to plant seeds of love, many of which are yet to bloom within us. She loved reading, painting, drawing, music, and dancing; all things which reflected God’s beautiful creation. Should you wish to be close to her, find a flower garden, for there she will be. She is with us just as the air we breathe. She would never leave us. We look forward to seeing how she has transformed heaven’s garden someday.
A small memorial will be offered at 2 pm Saturday December 19th 2020 at Sunny Lane Funeral Home 4000 SE 29th St. Del City OK. Capacity will be limited, social distancing guidelines and masks will be required.
