Born May 23, 1923, Esther Mae Barlor (Lillie) witnessed the Great Depression, WWII, the addition of two states to the United States of America, the moon landing, and the invention of the internet. But if you had asked her to recount the most important events of her life, she wouldn’t have mentioned any of these. Esther would have told you about her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her beloved pets.
Though she loved reading her Bible, bird watching, journaling, and bargain hunting, nothing made Esther as happy as spending time with her family, both human and animal. She was most at home surrounded by the chatter and chaos of her children, their friends and spouses and kids, and all of the stray humans and pets her family collected. She reveled in the holidays when all of her family would gather together. Esther was a shining example of humanity and compassion. She met all she came across with love and understanding.
Esther passed away at home on September 12, 2024, comforted by the presence of her daughters and pets she adored.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Lee Barlor, Sr; son, Terry Joe Barlor; and son-in-law, Donnie Ray Evans, Sr.
Esther’s legacy of kindness lives on in those she leaves behind, her son Theodore and wife, Theresa; son, Ernest and wife, Deena; daughters, Bessie Ann Evans, Linda Keeton and significant other, Lonnie Bordors, Edith Boschen and husband, Henry; sons, Danny and Patrick; as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a beautiful family friend so loved by the family, Tina Bailey.
A visitation for Esther will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4-8 pm at Sunny Lane Funeral Home, 4000 SE 29th St. Del City, OK, 73115. Funeral service will occur Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with committal to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in Esther’s name to your favorite animal shelter or charity, so that her legacy may live on.
