

CPO Ezra Nolan "Mitch" Mitchell, U.S. Navy, Ret, of Oklahoma City passed away on Monday, November 7th, 2016 at the age of 89. He was born on January 25th, 1927 in a tent in Waxahachie, Texas, to Loran Mitchell & Gladys Jones Mitchell.
Mitch was a decorated veteran of three wars. He first joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and served as an MP in Germany during World War II. He later joined the U.S. Navy and was deployed aboard Navy Destroyers in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the Fleet Reserve as well as the CPOA.
Mitch was an avid musician, hunter, and fisherman, but his greatest legacy is as a husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. Mitch is survived by his devoted wife of twelve years, Janice Hyde Mitchell, daughter Sherry Mitchell Hoffman, son Terry Lee Mitchell, brothers Sandy and Ernie, sisters Patsy and Shirley, and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Little Mitchell, son Jerry Mitchell, brother Billy and sister Rita.
Visitation will be Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Services with military honors will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2:00 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th St., Del City, OK. Inurnment to follow at a later date at Murray Cemetery in Binger, Oklahoma.
