Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a truly extraordinary woman—Gale. A woman of immense strength, kindness, and generosity, she touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth and unwavering love. She was a beacon of resilience, a mentor, a trusted friend, and a devoted mother whose presence brought light and comfort to all who knew her.
Born on July 18th, 1961, in Houston, Texas, Gale moved to Oklahoma City as a teenager, where she built a life full of ambition, compassion, and deep connections. From an early age, she embraced the values of optimism, integrity, and hard work—qualities that shaped every aspect of her life.
After graduating on May 18th, 1980, Gale wasted no time carving a path for herself. She joined Integris Baptist Medical Center in February 1981 as a lab assistant in microbiology, a role she approached with diligence and expertise. When Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma took over in 2001, she remained steadfast in her work, dedicating herself to training and mentoring new employees. Her work ethic and leadership led to her promotion as lead processor in 2016, a well-earned recognition of her commitment and excellence—where she remained until her passing.
Her life was defined not only by career achievements but by the love and devotion she poured into her family. On February 14th, 1981, she married Kenneth Wayne August Sr., and together, they built a family, welcoming four children into their lives. Though their paths took different directions in 1995, Gale never wavered in her commitment to raising her children with love, strength, and perseverance. She ensured that all four of them graduated high school—a testament to her dedication and unwavering support.
Gale’s resilience knew no bounds. In 2002, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing her first home, a symbol of her independence and determination. She was a pillar in her workplace and community, where coworkers and friends adored her. No matter the circumstance, her kindness and understanding made her a reliable and deeply cherished presence. Everyone loved Gale at work, and her friends could always count on her to be a loyal, uplifting force.
Her legacy is carried forward by those who loved her. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Calvin and Queen Esther Gilbert; her mother, Joyce Marie Edwards; her father, Sylvester Bullard; her stepfather, Henry Edwards; her uncle, Barney Smith; her brother, Tony Bullard; her sister, Tanya Bullard; and her beloved daughter, Natasha August.
