

James L. Murry passed away in his sleep on July 8th, 2025, in Midwest City, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Susan Murry, his mother, Virgie Mae Murry, his father William Murry, and his brothers; Henry Murry, Ronald Murry and Billy Barton.
Born on March 20, 1943, in Tuttle, OK, James grew up mostly in Midwest City. He married Susan in 1962, then served in the US Navy from March 1964 to August 1966. James and Susan had three girls and raised them in Northwest Edmond.
James loved western tv, country music and traveling. His favorite things to watch were Maverick, Tombstone, and any movie with Clint Eastwood, Kenny Rogers, or John Wayne. A couple of his favorite artists are George Jones, Meryl Haggard. His favorite places to travel were Disneyworld and the beach.
In addition to his love for tv and music, James loved his family. He is survived by his daughters, Mandy Reynolds, Dia Jones, and Jamie Schrewsbury, and his 10 grandchildren Abigail Schrewsbury, Nathan Schrewsbury, Michelle Reynolds, Brandon Murry, Michael Richards, Tiffany Youngblood, Kayla Johnson, Madison Hamilton, Tyler Hamilton, and Zoe Perez. James taught his family how to play their now favorite card game, Oh Hell. For every visit, his family members would try to beat him in a game or two.
James’ memory will live on in the memory of his family and friends. As we mourn the loss of James Murry, we also celebrate his life. We remember him as a man who loved playing cards, spending time with his family, enjoying a good movie and who served his country with honor.
A come-and-go visitation and reception will be from 4-8 on Thursday, July 24th at Bill Eisenhour at Sunny Lane Funeral Home. A service celebrating James’ life will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25th at Bill Eisenhour at Sunny Lane Funeral Home, Del City. Burial will follow with military honors at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK. The family also invites everyone to join them at the Veterans of Foreign Wars bar located at 9500 NE Tenth St in Midwest City, following the burial ceremony.
