Jason McPherson, 43, passed away October 30, 2016. He was born September 22, 1973 to Darlene Vivian Grub in Tallahassee, Florida on September 22, 1973. He wrestled all through high school in Del City where he graduated in 1993, and from there obtained his bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University in 2001 and then his master’s degree at Oklahoma State University in 2007. Jason was a teacher for many years, and also coached soccer, wrestling, football, and baseball, and was a “cheer dad” to his daughters as well. Jason’s hobbies included weightlifting, and he won many awards for it, including Mr. Teen Oklahoma, Mr. Oklahoma, and first place for Red River Classic Bodybuilding. He was a surgery technician in the Air Force for 4 years. Jason loved being a father; he was faithful about attending the annual daddy/daughter dances and loved taking his children to abandoned towns around the state. He loved being out in the country and dreamt of someday owning a farm. He will be remembered for always being helpful to others, and for being a #1 dad.
Jason is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Kelley McPherson; 3 children, Jenson, Kenlee, and Kegan McPherson; mother, Darlene Atkins; maternal grandparents, Stephen and Vivian Grubb; brother, Toby McPherson and wife Heather; nieces, Canna McPherson, Zoey Patterson, and Maggie Patterson; nephews, Turner and Maddux McPherson; dogs, Rosie and Daisy; cats, Batcat and Sophie; and turtle, Skittles II. He is preceded in death by the family turtle, Skittles I.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at Life Church in Midwest City. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Western Heights Academy in Jason’s name.
