Jimmy Lee Christion, Jr. was born in Lynwood, California, on November 21, 1972. Being the son of a Lutheran Pastor, the family moved often, beginning in Columbus, Ohio, where his father began seminary. From there, the family moved several times, being called to serve in Los Angeles, California, Detroit, Michigan, Oakland, California, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Through these travels, Jimmy learned to value the inclusion and perspective of people from a range of different social circles.
Jimmy was a beloved son and brother. Both he and his brother were taught early on that life was about serving others; prioritizing grace, forgiveness, and responding with thanks. To this day, they both readily do just that.
He and his dad shared a love of sports, which for Jimmy blossomed into the work of negotiating contracts, securing endorsements, and handling legal and financial matters for young up-and-coming athletes. However, his main call was to reach out to those in need. When his dad died, Jimmy stepped right up to make sure his mother was cared for. He moved in with her and catered to every one of her needs. Jimmy believed that no service was too small and that even small daily actions can contribute to the greater good.
Jimmy died on January 22, 2026. He was 53 years old. To his loving mother Gwen, his brother Christopher and wife Jessica, his cousins Victor and wife Yolanda, Iilonga, Lynnae, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends, he leaves behind a dignified legacy of service to others and a commitment to compassion, justice, and inclusion.
A memorial service for Jimmy will be held at 10am Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5701 S. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73119.
