John Robert (Bob) Short, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on October 13, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to John and Rhonda Short.
Bob carried with him the values of hard work, humility, and kindness wherever life took him. He lived a full life grounded in family with a lifelong love for reading, hunting, and fast cars. With his wry sense of humor, he had a gift for making people laugh and wisdom only matched by his wit.
Bob’s career as a Computer Specialist at TXU Energy spanned decades, but his true legacy was found in the relationships he built along the way. He was a steady presence to those who needed him, always ready with a warm word or helping hand.
He is survived by his children Christopher Short, Misty Dunklin, and Summer Woolverton; 7 grandchildren, (Delanie, Mia, Alea, Taylor, Hunter, Skylar, and Lennon), sibling Sylvia Johnson, and nieces Megan Christman and Marcia Eagan, who will continue to cherish his memory and carry his stories forward. Bob was preceded in death by parents, John and Rhonda Short.
A celebration of Bob’s life, where friends and loved ones are invited to share memories and honor a man who left the world better and more interesting than he found it, will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home at Sunny Lane Cemetery on July 18 at 10am in Del City, OK. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s memory to The Fisher House Foundation or simply take a moment to tell someone you love them.
He was one of a kind, and he will be deeply missed.
