Jon was born to Jon Keith Harkrider and Jeanette Leona Whitmire in Oklahoma City, OK. He attended school in Tecumseh, OK.

Jon worked for most of his life in construction as a loader operator; a job he loved until he had to retire in 2015. He loved life, loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved his church and church family. Jon was a very loving person who would have done anything for anyone if he was able. Although his siblings would say he was a very ornery child/teen. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his grandchildren and watching motorcycle videos on the internet. He greatly enjoyed playing UNO “Fandango” with his grandson, Aiden. He loved to tease about selling everything we owned and traveling all over the US on an Indian motorcycle. Jon enjoyed new opportunities and meeting new people. He loved learning new things. He wanted to be remembered in happiness and joy for a life lived not in sadness for being gone. He knew he would see his family again.

Jon is survived and greatly missed by his loving wife of 21.5 years, Teresa Harkrider; sons by marriage, Dusty Ross with wife Amy and Levi Justus; father Jon K. Harkrider with wife Carolyn; sisters Mary Daniels with husband Tim, Elizabeth Prince and Angela Moore; brothers Bill Harkrider with Darla and Jeffery Harkrider; grandsons Slater Ross-Parker and Aiden Ross; as well as many, many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Leona Whitmire.
