He was born on June 28, 1946 in Midland, Texas. As a teenager, he and his family moved to Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school and where he spent most of his adult life. After graduation Leon became a proud member of the U.S. Army and served in the 101st Airborne Infantry during the Vietnam War.
Leon met Martha Bortz and they married on July 21, 2001. Together they spent many happy years doing what they loved most, spending time with family. When they weren’t simply doting on their grandchildren, they were out fishing and camping with them. Volunteering as foster grandparents kept them busy as well.
