

Lurienda June Ross, 87, passed away on June 13th 2013. She was always known as June. She was born on June 6, 1926 in County Line, Oklahoma, one of twins, to Will Hines and Nora Lurienda (Gabriel) Hines. June graduated from Shawnee High School. After graduation June worked at Douglas in Midwest City, now Tinker Air Force Base, as a “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII. After the war she went to Business College and later worked at Britton Brothers, where she met and married Harold M. Stinson, Jr., on August 3, 1947. This union brought three daughters, Lurienda Kay who lived 6 days, Lurienda Ellen and Margaret Denise. She was a stay at home mom most of her life to raise her children. In the late 70’s and early 80’s she worked for the Oklahoma Police Department as a Police Technician, or “meter maid”. She received several commendations for her good work and dedication to her job. On September 6, 1980 she married Duaine E. Ross. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Billie Louise Snow, daughter Lurienda Kay and first husband Harold Stinson. She is survived by her husband, Duaine, her daughters, Lurienda and Margaret and son-in-law Dale, and her twin sister Martha Joye Lucas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and two nephews and two nieces.
