Millie was a wonderful cook and baker. She made pies and homemade breads. One of her specialty pies was coconut cream. She passed on her love for baking to her grandchildren and showed them how to make butter. Millie loved her family very much. She enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. When her grandchildren were younger, she would take care of them during the day. Nothing stopped her from spending time with her grandchildren during the day, not even a broken knee. In her younger years, Millie was on the basketball team at Sequoyah High School. She lived in Claremore for a number of years and while there she became a member of the Claremore Senior Citizen Welcoming Club. She would make families an entire meal to show they were welcomed. Millie enjoyed travel when she was able to. She traveled with her family across the United States and at one point; she and her sister went to Europe for 3 weeks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Donna Patrick; brother, Ronnie Turner, and niece, Louise Haymes. Survivors include her son, Don Gable and wife Jamie; grandchildren, Shane Patrick and wife April, Ashley Guerreo and husband Nathan, Corey Gable, and Kelsey Gable; great-grandchildren, Donna Antonelli, Nathan Guerrero II, and Emma Patrick; sister, Wilma Haymes and husband Bob; and nephew, Robert Dixie Haymes. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Physician’s Choice Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Cancer Society in Millie’s name.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Sunny Lane Family Church. Interment will be held at the Sunny Lane Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma.
