Nellie Laverne (Askins) Davis

Nellie Laverne (Askins) Davis, mother, grandmother, great grandmother left this world July 20, 2009 to be with her husband Donald A Davis, step father and mother: Roy and Ollie Shelley, father: Fred Askins, brother: Ross Darrell Shelley. Nellie Laverne was born January 28, 1930 in El Reno, Oklahoma. She spent most of her adult life in Midwest City, OK working in Human Resources at Tinker Air Force Base. She enjoyed ceramics, square dancing, and snow skiing in Colorado, going to her cabin in Eufaula, watching TBN, drinking coffee and spending time with her family which was the most important thing in her life. She loved her grandkids. She was the family angel, had a heart of gold, never gave up, and was the strength of the family. She was always kind and never had a harsh word. Nellie was past president of Nat’l Square Dance Association of OKC.

She will be greatly missed. We will never be the same without her. She is survived by her daughter: Nancy DePrince and husband Jeff; son: Donald A. Davis, Jr.; 6 grandchildren: Chris Myers, Megan DePrince, Stephanie Brown, Donald A. Davis III, Lisa Mendell, Ozie Davis; 12 great grandchildren: Riley Myers, Caden Myers, Ashton Myers, Gavin Myers, Stephanie Davis, Robert Mendell, Michael Mendell, Brooke Brown, Brittaney Brown, Dustin DePrince, Dawn DePrince, Danielle DePrince; sister: Roberta Grulkey; nieces and nephews: Carl, Cathy, Shelly, Connie, Carla, Christian; cousin: Maxine Wright. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, July 24, 2009 at Sunny Lane Chapel with burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
