

Nita Sue Myrick was born on July 28, 1935 to Hugh and Mary Katherine (Killingsworth) Simmons at the family home in Seminole, OK. Nita, 88, of Midwest City, OK left us peacefully, surrounded by her family on Oct. 2, 2023.
Nita married Johnny Myrick of Bowlegs, OK in 1955. Shortly after getting married, Nita began working for Southwestern Bell as Telephone Operator. The pair later moved to Midwest City, OK and began a family with three boys -Terry, David, and Charlie. As the boys grew, Nita would take on a full-time job as mother and homemaker. She loved chasing the boys and taking them to their activities. Nita enjoyed following her favorite sports team, the Oklahoma Sooners, Midwest City Bombers and most recently the Oklahoma City Thunder. She would cheer on whatever team the kids and grandkids were a part of as well. Nita also enjoyed the yearly lake trips with the family or other family vacations. When she wasn’t traveling you usually caught her watching tennis on TV when here favorite teams were not on.
Later on, in life her most favorite job was being Grandma Myrick. She loved getting visits from Danelle, Drew, and Emma. You would have thought OU won the National Championship when she got promoted to Great Grandma to Deacon, Tuff, and Rylee.
Nita is preceded in death by her loving parents - Hugh and Mary Katherine Simmons, and loving husband-Johnny Myrick, sister Coreta Jeffries, and brother Sonny Simmons.
Nita is survived by sons Terry Myrick of Midwest City, OK, David Myrick of Oklahoma City, Ok, and Charles and wife Jobi Myrick of Edmond, OK. Granddaughter Danelle and husband JJ Devore of Laverne, OK. Grandson Drew and wife Anna Myrick of Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Granddaughter Emma Myrick of Oklahoma City, OK. Great Grandchildren - Deacon Devore, Tuff Myrick, and Rylee Devore.
A visitation for Nita will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.
