Pearl Edna Stephenson, 82, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on April 19, 2016, surrounded by the love of her husband, John, and her caregiver, Chalour. A native of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Pearl was born on February 26, 1934, to Perry and Lucy (Weston) Christy. At the age of five, Pearl met the man who would eventually become her husband. While seven-year-old John Stephenson considered his neighbor Pearl to be a “red-headed brat,” his love for her grew throughout the years and they were married on October 20, 1951.
The couple had a son, John (“Skip”) Stephenson Jr. whom they adored. Pearl and John were inseparable; John was strong for her until her very last breath. The couple was married for nearly 65 blissful years. Pearl was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her animals and spending time in her garden tending to her beautiful roses. She and John made many special memories as they traveled the country together. She also was an avid Elvis Presley fan.
Pearl is preceded in death by her son, Skip. She is survived by her husband, John; caregiver and dear friend, Chalour Morris; nephew, Vernon Brighshue Jr.; sister, Lucy Christy, and a host of relatives and friends.
