

Ruben G. Martinez, 71, of Midwest City, was called home by the lord to watch over his family on October 4th, 2013.
Born on June 29th, 1942, to Manuel C. and Savas(Minjarez) Martinez in Chanute, KS.
After attending High School in Chanute, KS, he began a military career that span over the course of 30yrs beginning with the Army National Guard and culminating with the Air Force Reserves. Assigned to the 507th Tactical Fighter Group at Tinker Air Force Base, he served as Crew Chief as a Civil Service employee and Reservist. During his career he prided himself in maintaining many types of aircraft such as the C-124 Globemaster, F-105 Thunderchief, F-4 Phantom and F-16 Fighting Falcon. After transitioning from Crew Chief to Maintenance Control Operations in the latter part of his career with deployments all over the world and the United States, he gracefully retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1995.
On September 16th, 1965, He married his beautiful wife, Sara in Bartlesville, OK. Over the next 50yrs they would raise 4 beautiful children and become amazing Grandparents and Great-Grandparents to 14 wonderful souls.
Dancing and listening to music with his beautiful wife along with family and friends, quiet times were never often. Laughing, reminiscing and lots of family time was always the norm.
A life long fan of the University of Oklahoma, crimson and cream were his colors of choice. While not cheering on OU athletics he was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan and supporter of Mt. Saint Mary basketball. Even closer to home was his love and support for the “Black and Gold” of Midwest City High School. Even after his children and grandchildren had all graduated, you could always find him supporting the Bomber football and basketball programs no matter where they played. He truly believed in “Bomber Magic”.
He is survived by his wife, Sara, of the home. Daughters, Jacqueline and Jennifer of Oklahoma City. Son, Michael of Midwest City. Son and Daughter In-Law, Mark and Julie, of Choctaw. Brother, Samuel P. and wife Phyllis of Midwest City, OK. Sisters, Ruth Ponce and Esther Quirarte of Chanute, KS. Grandchildren; Monica and husband Steve, Veronica, Alex, Adrian, Jessica, Marisa, Kingsten, Bryce, Brooklyn, and Race. Great-Grandchildren; Nadia, Ayva, Jacob and Madison
He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Manuel C. and Savas Martinez. Brothers, Manuel C. Jr., and Ishmael Martinez. Sisters, Rachel Martinez and Vera Mendez.
