Ruth Jewell Nichols

Ruth Jewell Nichols, 97, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Medical Park West in Norman, OK. She was born on Feb. 6, 1920 in Eufaula, OK to her parents Jud and Ada Ellis. Ruth worked as Rosie the Riveter during WWII and also worked 20 years at Cool Temp Awning & Window Mfg. Co. There are many things that Ruth loved but her family was number one! She loved holiday meals and get-togethers at her home and she loved children, dogs, flowers and feeding stray cats. One of Ruth’s fondest childhood memories was having her sister Midge as her best friend. Ruth loved making hand made quilts for every child and grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hershel Nichols; parents Jud and Ada (Wilson) Ellis; and her oldest son William Jay Nichols.

She is survived by her children Bobby Nichols and wife Ann, Tommy (Butch) Nichols and wife Marilyn, Betty Qualls and husband Ron, and Phil Nichols and wife Janice; sister Mildred (Midge) Dempsey; grandchildren Larry, Sherry, Mary, Nicole, Brian, Ryan, Bobby, Amy, Melissa, Tina and many great and several great-greatgrandchildren.

The family would like to express a very special “thank you” to Maria Masingill and Breyuana Craig and staff at Medical Park West Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at Sunny Lane Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Sunny Lane Cemetery. Family and friends visitation, Friday 4pm-7pm.
