Virginia Ruth Lowry

Virginia Ruth Lowry, age 89 of Del City, passed away April 17, 2014. She was born September 19, 1924 in Marlow, OK to the union of William Blackburn and Maudie (Lester) Blackburn. Virginia was a homemaker who loved to garden which included both flower and vegetable gardens; she was an all-around outdoor person. She also enjoyed embroidering, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and listening to her old time records. Virginia, who everyone knew as “Granny,” loved most of all her special time of spoiling her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she love to push on the tire and porch swings. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh; two sons, Danny and Roger Lowry, seven sisters and two brothers. Survivors include daughters, Ruth Steffens and husband Gene of Oklahoma City; Linda Ferguson and husband Mike of Noble, Oklahoma; Carol Grider and husband Dennis of Salina, Kansas; one son, Jack Lowry and wife Janice of Van Buren, Arkansas; daughters–in-law, Linda Lowry of Barling, Arkansas and Astrid Lowry of Tulsa, Oklahoma, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; other family members and a host of friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2014 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Southeast, Del City, Oklahoma, with interment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
