Bernice Lopez died on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Camelot of Broussard Nursing Home from complications related to her heart. In hospice care for six months prior to her death, Bernice died peacefully at 7:35am surrounded by her loving family.
Bernice was born on October 6, 1935, in Lafayette, LA. At 16 years old, she met and later married Felix Lopez of Erath, La. They were married sixty-three years on September 27, 1952 and were blessed with two children; Sandra Ann and Blaine Chris.
Bernice strived to be a good example to her children; teaching them to be respectful, loving, kind and mindful of others. She spent most of her life providing a good, loving, stable home for her children and husband. Being a housewife the entire time, she was an amazing, giving woman who many admired. She was the glue in the family, and she always made sure her children and husband were perfectly taken care of and her home was spotless. She was her children's first love, their first friend, and nothing could separate them from her love. Her children always felt that "When God created Moms, they were given the best". Without a doubt, she left beautiful memories behind.
She was highly respected and deeply loved by her grandchildren. Although they were all her favorites or "Special" ones, there were some who felt differently. It was always a battle among them as to WHO exactly was her favorite.
As time went on, Bernice and Felix (Marcel) spent their golden years caring for each other and enjoying each other's company, stealing kisses every chance they could.
Bernice thoroughly enjoyed laughing and spending quality time with her family and her many friends. She lived a full beautiful life enjoying it every step of the way.
Cherishing her memory, she leaves her husband, Felix (Marcel) Lopez, her daughter Sandra Lopez Booher and her husband Joseph Marquardt of Youngsville, La., her son Blaine Lopez and his wife Nancy Desormeaux Lopez of Broussard, La, her five grandchildren, Frank Breaux, Jr of Erath, La. and his wife Amanda Richard Lopez, Nicholas Lopez of New Orleans, La, Christopher Lopez of San Antonio, Tx, and his wife Demetri Babineaux Lopez, Kaleb Booher of Durango, CO, Ali Lopez of Broussard, La, and her three great grandchildren Trevor Breaux, Ethan Breaux and Brooks Lopez; two sisters, Ruby Landry and Sharlette Landry both of Youngsville and Bryan Trahan of Columbus, TN.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Edias Trahan and Rhena Delahoussaye Trahan and her two brothers, Howard and Sanford Trahan.
Pallbearers are her "Special" grandsons, Frank Breaux, Jr, Nicholas Lopez, Christopher Lopez, Kaleb Booher, her great grandson Trevor Breaux, and her God Child Robert Trahan. The Honorary Pallbearer is her Great Grandson Ethan Breaux.
