On December 15, 2025, just before the sun rose on another of God’s glorious days, our beloved mother, Brunella Dupuis Ray, peacefully closed her eyes to this earthly life and entered her eternal glory. She was surrounded by the love of her family, who remained faithfully by her side until the very end. She was 86 years old.
Brunella was born on October 4, 1939, in Rayne, Louisiana, to the late Junius and Mathilde Rogers Dupuis. She was raised in New Iberia, where she spent her entire life rooted in a family rich in Cajun heritage. From an early age, she learned the values of honesty, hard work, kindness, and compassion—principles that guided her throughout her life.
At the very young age of 10 years old, and in the 6th grade, Brunella milked cows, and worked alongside her family in the okra, cotton, and pepper fields, helping with harvests and learning the meaning of perseverance. Her strong desire to provide a better life for her family led her to many years of dedicated work. While employed at Trappey’s Foods, she proudly became the first woman to operate a forklift and other machinery—an accomplishment she held close to her heart. She later joined Walmart, where she gave more than thirty years of loyal service before retiring.
Brunella’s heart overflowed with love for her family, whom she often referred to as her “greatest joy.” Spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her first precious great-great-grandchild brought her immeasurable happiness. She also found joy in tending to her plants and flowers, which beautifully adorned her home, and in relaxing with her favorite coloring books, lovingly creating pictures for her family.
Rarely was Brunella seen without a warm smile or a kind word. She never met a stranger—once you met her, you were a friend for life. Known for her playful spirit, she loved to act silly and make others laugh, bringing comfort and peace to everyone she encountered.
She cherished the many trips she shared with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. These included beach vacations along the Gulf Coast, trips to Astroworld, Disney adventures with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her most beloved journey of all—a visit to Graceland, the famous home of Elvis Presley.
Though we will miss her deeply, Brunella’s memory will forever live in our hearts. On bright days, we will look to the heavens, knowing she is smiling down on us, resting peacefully in the Kingdom of Heaven until the day we are reunited. Rest in peace, Brunella. We love you.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Daniel “DannyBoy” Migues (Debbie), Trinda Derouen (Jerome), Rod Migues (Shannon), Norma Comeaux Delahoussaye (Joey), Don (Beau) Comeaux (Fiance Kiley), Ernest Ray, Jr., and those still dear to her heart, Dana Comeaux, Colette Landry, and Kristi Mistretta; her grandchildren: Danny Migues (Kelly), Guy Migues (Jamie), Drew Migues, Sarah Harris (Cody), Angelle Renard (Sean), Ryan Migues, Caleb Migues, Jessica Migues, Jacey Derouen Hebert (Brad), Jennifer Derouen Charles (Christopher), Hunter Delahoussaye (Haley), Connor Delahoussaye (Autumn), Cali Comeaux Crouch (Dalton), Cayden Comeaux, Cegan Comeaux, Katelyn Ray (fiancé Pat), Kinzie Ray, Ryan Suire, Ryder Ray, and Paislee Ray; along with a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
