Gerald McKay

A native of Festus, MO and resident of Kaplan, Mr. McKay passed away at 2:41 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Abbeville General Hospital.

Mr. McKay served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard and retired after 30 years of service with the rank of Captain. He also retired from Plumbers and Pipe Fitters in St. Louis, MO.

He enjoyed traveling in his 5th wheel and spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Elsie B. McKay of Kaplan; two daughters, Marilyn Smith and husband William of Crystal City, MO and Barbara Hedge and husband Rick of Festus, MO; two step daughters, Linda Vincent and husband Charles of Kaplan and Debra Guidry and husband Mark of Sulphur and one step son, Bobby Easley and wife Gloria of Kaplan; one brother, Norman “Herb” McKay of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal Thomas and Mattie Francis Maupin McKay; two sisters, Maybelle Villmare and Martha LaLumandier and four brothers, Henry Silas McKay; Robert Howard McKay; Hal Floyd McKay and John Ernest McKay.
