

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for John Terrell Dooley, age 70, at 12:00 pm Saturday February 12, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Herb Bennerfield officiating. Gift bearing and readings will be given by Elliot Manuel, Hannah Dooley, and Alyssa Dooley. Musicians for the mass will be Bridget Touchet (vocalist) and Francis Toups (organist) who will be singing. “Be Not Afraid”, “Here I am Lord”, “How Great Thou Art”, “On Eagles Wings”, and “Amazing Grace”. Interment will be held at a later date at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church from 9:30 am until services on Saturday with a Rosary at 10:00 am.
A native and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Dooley passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 9, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Dooley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He was a clerk at Dooley Bros. Marine for over 30 years and then opened his own business, Terrell’s Job Service, which he owned and operated for over 20 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved planting fruits and vegetables and sharing them with his customers.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Amedean “Dean” Campbell Dooley; two children, Terelyn “Terrie” Manuel and husband Myron of Erath and John Eric Dooley and wife Toni of Magnolia, TX; three grandchildren, Elliot Manuel, Hannah Dooley, and Alyssa Dooley; brother, Rodney Dooley of Delcambre; and three sisters, Glyndon Dooley of New Iberia, Shelby Renard and husband John Cleve, and Cynthia Delcambre all of Delcambre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert “Mike” Dooley and Mae Armentor East; stepfather, Corbert East; and brother, Kenneth “Kenny Boy” Dooley.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deepest appreciation, the concern and kindness shown by so many during this difficult time. Special heartfelt thanks goes to his caregivers, Connie Lewis, Geraldine Irving, Veronica Narcisse, and Becky Cahee, who have become part of the family. Their exceptional care of his needs are what allowed Terrell to continue to live comfortably at home.
