Louday Paul Campbell, a native of Delcambre, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 25, in his home with family by his side. At his passing he was 79. Born September 3, 1943 to the late Erice and Mable Campbell, Louday grew up in Bob Acres just outside of Delcambre, LA. Married to his loving wife Lilly Mae Reaux Campbell for 57 years, he was a fun-loving kind and spirited man who enjoyed the simple life with his wife and three children (Donna, Darrell and Charles). He was a husband, father, grand-father, and great grandfather that loved his family and cherished the time spent with them. Louday was an Oilfield mechanic by trade but when he wasn’t working or spending time with family, he enjoyed fishing with his brothers and brother-in-laws. He was also an avid gardener and could grow just about anything. He loved growing vegetables to share with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Lilly Mae Reaux Campbell; two sons, Darrell Campbell and Charles Campbell (and his wife Jeanne); his granddaughter, Shelby Taylor (and husband Jr. Taylor); his grandson, Alex Campbell; and five great grandchildren, Ethan Meyers, Emma Taylor, Noah Taylor, Aiden Taylor and Elijah Taylor. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Campbell Meyers; his grandson, Brandon Michael Meyers; his parents, Erice and Mable Campbell; and his brothers and sisters, Manson Campbell, Joseph “Elvis” Campbell, Everta Robicheaux, and Marie Campbell. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Louday’s life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Nathan Comeaux will be the celebrant. Following the mass, Mr. Campbell will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Mausoleum in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, September 30 at Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Darrell Campbell, Alex Campbell, Ethan Meyers, Billy Reaux, Manuel Campbell and Jason Campbell. Honorary pallbearer will be Jr. Taylor.
