Louis Dennis Migues, affectionately known as L.D., Daddy, and Pa to those who knew and loved him, lived a rich and meaningful life for 86 years. He passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was born on February 4, 1940, to the late Desire and Nelia Landry Migues in Delcambre, LA.
L.D. was an avid hunter, bird watcher, political debater, and gifted storyteller. He never met a stranger and loved sharing stories—especially about the family’s oil well business, which he took great pride in caring for and discussing with anyone willing to listen. His passion for life showed in the simple things too, like faithfully watching The Bold and the Beautiful each day alongside his beloved wife.
He served as a livestock brand inspector for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, where he built many lifelong friendships, he also worked with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, Avery Island Salt Mine and on the shrimp boats alongside his brothers. He was respected for his hard work, dedication, and the genuine way he connected with people.
He was the founder of Tigre Lagoon Hunting Club, now known as Burch Creek Hunting Club, which he was still a very proud member.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to him and they will always remember him attending all of their sporting events and cheering them on.
L.D. shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Rebecca Thibodeaux Migues, and together they made their home in Bayou Tigre, where they built a life centered on family, faith, and tradition. Together they have their beautiful children, Dexter L. Migues; Adriane M. Landry (Wayne) and Trixie M. Sheffield (Mark; grandchildren, Ross Landry (Rosalyn); Kevin Landry (Victoria; Ashley Migues; Hannah Henderson (Kaleb); and Brandon Sheffield (Katelyn) and his great grandchildren, Levi Landry, Finn Landry, Harper Landry, Elizabeth Landry, Isabelle Landry, Fisher Henderson, Landry Henderson and Hunter Sheffield.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his parents, Desire and Nelia Landry Migues; one sister, Daisy M. Romero; five brothers, Sabra Migues, Sonny Migues, Dave Migues, Dennis Migues and Clifford Migues and his godchild, Benny Migues.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, stories, and memories that will live on through the many people who called him Daddy, Pa, and friend.
