Born on October 29, 1932, in Delcambre, Melba was the beloved daughter of the late Antime and Marie Broussard Migues. She had a strong work ethic that defined her generation.
Melba was an exceptional seamstress whose talent and attention to detail earned her the admiration of many. Over the years, she crafted custom drapes, comforters, and a variety of beautiful home goods for interior designers and their clients. Her work could be found adorning countless homes, each piece a testament to her skill, creativity, and dedication to her craft. She took great pride in creating items that brought comfort and beauty into the lives of others.
Later in life, Melba found joy in simple pleasures, especially her trips to the casino. These outings brought her excitement, laughter, and cherished moments shared with friends and loved ones.
Melba will be remembered for her steady hands, her creative spirit, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her legacy lives on in the many homes she helped make beautiful and in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Dooley, Thomas Dooley and Kathy Dooley’ six grandchildren, Heather Neveu, Michelle Neveu, Bryan Dooley, Brett Dooley, Scott Dooley and Tiffany Dooley; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Mary LeMaire and two brothers, Lester Miguez and Jimmy Migues.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Willis “Bill” Dooley, and three sisters, Jane Guidry, Dorothy “Dot” Goutierrez and Florence “Flo” Barras.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre. Deacon Patrick Burke will officiate. Mrs. Dooley will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum following the service.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 am until time of service with a Rosary at 11:00 am at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
