Susan Colomb Columb Bird

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Richard Bird, the former Susan “Susie” Colomb, age 59, at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Andre’ Metrejean officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday.

Mrs. Bird passed away at 10:55 pm on August 31, 2017 at Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX.

In 1979 Susie was twenty two years old when she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Bird. They shared thirty seven years together. Susie loved to travel, having taken several trips with her husband around the country, which even included a special trip to Canada. In her spare time, Susie enjoyed cooking and even made several contributions to cookbooks. She was very proud to have several of her recipes published in various cookbooks, including “The All American Cook Book”. Susie loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them and spending time with her loved ones. She will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Bird; step-son, Brandon Bird and wife Anna of Duluth, MN; brothers, Michael Colomb and wife Pattie of New Iberia and Robert Colomb of Erath; sister, Karen Dugas and husband Gilman of New Iberia; brother-in-law, Ronny Bird and wife Yolanda of Texas; sister-in-law, Renee Shackleford and husband Ronnie of Oklahoma; step-mother, Lucille Colomb of Delcambre; mother-in-law, Willi Mae Bird of Texas; grandchildren, Sarah Bird and William Bird; and great grandchild, Robert Bird.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Colomb and Ella Mae Derouen Colomb; sister-in-law, Shawn Colomb; maternal grandparents, Desiree and Elena Derouen; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Annonsiade Colomb; and god mother, Eula Gachassin.

Pallbearers will be Mark LeMaire, Brent Colomb, Ronny Bird, Peyton LeMaire, Dennis LeMaire, Devin Colomb.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Colomb, Robert Colomb, and Gilman Dugas.
