“Betty”, the seventh of eight siblings, was born in Brooklyn, NY to Lillian and Samuel Stern. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Gerry, her beloved daughter Elaine, and her siblings Hilly, Alice, Louis, Hershey, Gertie, and Albert. She is survived by her brother Eugene, her sons Stuart (Stacey) and Philip (Shara Taylor); her grandchildren Caryn Gordon (Tyler), Daniel (Hadas), Eliana, Morgan Terlovsky (Anton), and Jeff (Brecken Blackburn); and great grandchildren Evan, Paige, Aiden, Jake, and Noam.
Betty married Gerald (Gerry) Rabinowitz on Valentine’s Day 1954 and lived in Brooklyn where her children were born and raised. She worked as a bookkeeper in addition to running a busy household and raising her children in partnership with Gerry. Her life was full of joy and laughter which she brought to every situation with her infectious smile and laugh. She was a good friend and confidant to many and enjoyed boating, Canasta, reading, entertaining, keeping up with current events, and watching sports. She was, without exaggeration, "Aunt Betty" to hundreds either by blood or by love and often mentioned as my favorite aunt. Many generations present and future will benefit from her legacy of the power of love, family and positive thinking. She would want you to know, "My door is always open."
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. In life Betty supported the ALS Foundation, the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, and the MS Society which honors her husband, daughter, and niece who preceded her in death as well as a living much loved niece.
