

Jerry Mayer, 91, passed away on September 19, 2025, in Boynton Beach, Florida. Born on April 8, 1933, in New York City, Jerry lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and quiet passions that brought joy to those around him. He served honorably in Korea from 1952 to 1954, a formative experience that reflected his sense of duty and resilience.
Following his military service, Jerry worked as a typesetter for the New York Daily News. His meticulous attention to detail contributed to one of the nation's most iconic newspapers during a pivotal era in journalism.
Jerry found joy in baking—a hobby that became a signature part of his life. Whether preparing treats for family or simply enjoying the process itself, baking was one of the many ways he expressed care and creativity.
He is survived by his devoted companion Marie Williams; his sister Tobi and her husband Ira Raff; his brother Howard and his wife Jude Mayer; and nieces and nephew Jenny Raff, Jason Raff, Susan Mayer, and Jessica Mayer. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Ellie Mayer and his brother Irwin Mayer and Irwin’s wife Joy.
