
Born Marvin Sanford Wolfowitz (Moshe Shimon) in New York to loving parents Frank Harry (Ephraim Hirsh) Wolfowitz and Rose Wolfowitz (nee Wolper). Frank and Rose later changed the family surname to Wolf.
Marvin grew up in New Rochelle, New York with older siblings Herbert and Janice. During his childhood, Marvin found a love of music where he learned to play the trumpet enjoying classical jazz and big band swing music, prominent during the 1930’s and 1940’s. He continued to enjoy music throughout his life.
Marvin graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1950 and later attended New York University (NYU). During college, Marvin was in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and later served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a Lieutenant in the Infantry Division between 1955-1957. Marvin returned to New York where he fell in love with Gail Simon and they were married on June 7, 1959. They would remain married for sixty-six (66) years.
Marvin was a proud father to three (3) children (Robert, Lauren Mufson, and Steven) and grandfather to six (6) grandchildren (Andrew and Emily Wolf, Gabriella, Ilana, and Jacob Wolf and Andrew Mufson).
Marvin’s professional life after serving in Korea included working as an accountant in public and private industry and later served the U.S. Government as a Federal Agent.
In 1994, Marvin and Gail retired to Delray Beach, Florida. Marvin often enjoyed listening to music, photography, deep sea fishing, golf and bowling, traveling, occasional trips to the casino, spending time with friends, and most of all spending time with his family. Marvin was blessed with a full life and will be remembered as a kind, soft-spoken man who had a deep love of his family and friends.
