Robert proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, where he was a Paratrooper with the 82nd and 11th Airborne Divisions. He also flew missions as a dedicated member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. In 1985, Robert fulfilled a lifelong childhood dream by earning his pilot’s license.
A man of remarkable curiosity and creativity, Robert had many hobbies and interests. He was a talented artist and never missed his morning puzzle. He delighted family and friends with magic tricks he took joy in learning and sharing. Deeply interested in family history, he compiled extensive volumes of genealogy research for relatives and friends alike. Robert also built elaborate train villages and even constructed a full airplane simulator—yoke and all.
Known affectionately as “Mr. Fix-It,” Robert was an excellent carpenter who generously taught his children and stepchildren practical skills that many carried into their own lives and careers.
Robert is remembered by his devoted wife, Sandra; his daughters, Susan (husband Anthony) and Debra (deceased husband Jordan); his stepchildren, Troy, Todd (wife Stephanie), and Dawn (deceased, husband Michael); and his cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew, Jolie, Marissa, and Leia.
A funeral service will be held on January 23, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Riverside–Stanetsky Memorial Chapel.
