Stephen Paul Burns

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Stephen "Steve" Paul Burns, 76, of Delray Beach, Florida. After a valiant struggle with heart disease, Steve lost his life on Monday, July 28th, 2025. At the time of his death, he was in the hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Steve was born in Rumford, Maine, on August 28th, 1948. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he joined the National Guard. Steve spent his professional career as a police officer for the city of Auburn, Maine. He and his wife Patricia "Patty" Sanville retired to Delray Beach where they enjoyed spending time with each other as well as family and friends.

Steve’s parents, Armand J. and Colleen Elsie (née Garrigan) Burns; his beloved stepfather, John Joyce; and sisters, Colleen Degen and Maureen Rosenberg, predeceased him.

Steve is survived by his wife, Patty, and his brothers, Greg Burns and Ron Burns. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Wanda Henry and her husband Frank Henry, Lisa Esposito, Vicki Caraccioli, and Danny Sanville; nieces, Chelsea Malinowski, Vanessa Witkowski, Melissa Rosenberg, and Nicki Rosenberg; several grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
