William (Zev) Schechter

Zev (William), 66 of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, passed away on November 4, 2015. Devoted husband of Marcia (Packer) Schechter for 42 years. Loving father of Joshua(Jill) Schechter of Odenton, MD, and Shoshanna Schechter-Shaffin (Rabbi Royi Shaffin) of Richmond, VA. Adored grandfather of Netanya, Elianna, and Kinneret Shaffin, and Hunter, Edward (Teddy), and Mikayla Schechter. Son-in-law of Sidney Packer of Palm Beach. Zev is also survived by mother Estelle Schechter, brothers Jay and Harold Schechter and their families, Great-Aunt Ruth Lasky .

Zev was an attorney for the U.S. Customs Service, International Trade Commission, and the Federal Trade Commission. Upon his retirement from the Federal Government, he founded the Metropolitan Rabbinical Kashrus Association (Metro-K) in the Washington , D.C. area in 1999. He received his B.A. degree in 1971 from Yeshiva University and his J.D. degree from Hofstra University Law School in 1974.
