

The family will receive friends in the First Christian Church Sanctuary from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 11, 2013, with funeral services beginning at 2:00 P.M., Rev. Steve Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison.
Pallbearers will be Ken Altnether, Brad Blankenship, Robert Hempkins, Paul Hennen, Darius Maggi and Don Riddle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Archer, Roger & Dolores Hanson, David Hawley, Mary Lou King, Dave Maddox, Vernon Mathis, Maureen Smith, Richard & Annette White, Stewart Wood, Mike Woody, and A. V. Whitehead.
Barbara was born August 31, 1930 in San Antonio, Tx, the daughter of Edmund F. Haag and Ruby Ratcliff Haag. She attended Tyman Elementary School, Emerson Jr. High School and Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. She also attended San Antonio Jr. College and University of Texas in Austin. Barbara met Jesse Pugh on a blind date, Valentine's Day, while both were attending TCU. Jesse from De Ridder, La was studying to be a Disciples of Christ Minister. They married on July 17, 1951 in San Antonio. As she proudly served along side her husband as a minister's wife, Barbara was active in all phases of the First Christian Church (Melissa, Alpine, Van Alstyne, El Campo, and Denison, TX). This included committee work, Christian Women's Fellowship, youth activities, camp counselor, Chancel Choir, Sunday School Teacher, and Eldership. She loved being a homemaker and mother of her 3 children and their activities. She also seved as President of Church Women United in Denison. Later she earned her Nursing Home Administrator's license and worked for 20 years in Beeville, Elkhart, Livingston, Nacogdoches and Alpine, Tx. She also helped Jesse serve as interim pastors of Grapeland, Timpson, Port Lavaca, Celina and Andrews.
Jesse and Barbara finally settled back in Denison after her retirement. Mrs. Pugh was a faithful member of First Christian Church, Denison and cherished her church family. She especially enjoyed Golden Oldies Group. She loved entertaining guests, traveling, hearing cute stories about her great grandchildren and playing Mexican Train and other games with her friends and family.
She is survived by 2 daughters Carolyn Brady & husband Robert of Denison, Susan Pugh & Dan Schaller of Friendswood, Tx; daughter-in-law Patricia Dinse´ of Fairfield, CA; 4 grandchildren Alison Brandt & husband Allen of McKinney, Tx, Aaron Brady & wife Casey of Dallas, Tx, Michael Pugh of Denison, Shana Jankowski of League City, Tx; 2 great-grandchildren Avery & Aiden Brandt of McKinney, Tx; many nieces & nephews; great nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband Rev. Jesse B. Pugh (March, 1998); son Jesse Wayne Pugh (Nov., 2012); brothers Edmund F. Haag, Jr., Marvin J. Haag and parents.
The family would like to thank her many friends, Dr. Latham and Dr. Ehsan, Grayson Hospice Team, her wonderful caregivers, and Susie & Teresa for their love, care, cards &/or acts of kindness during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund in Denison.
