Charles Norman Barton

Charles was born Wednesday, December 8, 1926 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of John David Barton and Martha Rebecca Hunt Barton. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. On December 27, 1952 he married Berta Hunt at the First Methodist Church in New Harmony, Indiana.

He was a loving father and friend to everyone he met. He was a member of Harwood Baptist Church; served his country in the U.S. Navy as a fireman and played base fiddle in the military band; lifetime member of the VFW; lived on Barton Lane for 82 years. He was a talented musician and could play any instrument he picked up.

Charles is survived by his wife Berta Barton of Evansville, Indiana; son Norman Keith & wife Cathy of Fairplay, Colorado; daughters Debra Kay Fisher & husband Robert of Irving, Texas, Glenda Gail Gilbert & husband Tommy of Honey Grove, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Charles Allen Barton and daughter Charlene Fay Barton.

A memorial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Evansville, Indiana at a later date.
