E.E. Gene Ramey

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Denison with Rev. Jim Hawthorne officiating and a eulogy by Don W. Bailey.

The family had a visitation Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bratcher Funeral Home.

Mr. Ramey was born October 12, 1934 in Colbert Oklahoma to Arlie and Ola Mae Ramey. He married Wanda Potts on October 27, 1956 in Denison, TX at the First Presbyterian Church.

He served in the Army from May 1957 to 1962 with two years stationed in Germany. He was a graduate of Colbert High School and took courses at the University of Texas and the University of Houston. Gene was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as Elder. He worked for the Yellow Jacket Boat Company, and was with Johns Manville for 13 years; was Vice President with Denison Federal Savings and Loan for 18 years and later Resource Savings. He retired in 1986. He was a former member of Denison Rod & Gun Club; past President of Denison Lions Club; member of the Chamber of Commerce; one of the original members of the Denison Gold Coats; served on the Civil Service Commission for the City of Denison and served as chairman of bingo at the Lions Carnival for years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth Ramey.

He is survived by his wife Wanda; sister Joyce (Ramey) Clark and husband Arlen of Durant, OK; brother Arley Dwight Ramey and wife Susie Ramey of Cartwright, OK; sister-in-law Bobby Huggins; five nieces; 3 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ray Clark, Justin Delgado, David Bryant, Lynn Felps, Arnold Guymon, Robert Herriage, Phillip Shaffer, Horace Groff. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dick Eustice, Dick Bond, Dick Wiggins, Max Shaw, David Bayless, Jr., John Hartsell, Stan Simmons and Dr. John Saunders.
