John Robert Shearer

Denison – Funeral services for John Robert Shearer, 55, of Denison, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4th at Parkside Baptist Church, 301 N. Lillis Lane, Denison, TX 75020 with Dr. Chet Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, TX.

Visitation for John will be held from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison, TX 75020.

Pallbearers will be Jack Hanan, Bryan Bontempo, Ted Blankenship, Jeff Kenney, Colton Kenney, Shane Kenney, Brandon Crouse, Jason Russell, and Mikey Shearer.

John went to be with his Lord and Savior Mon. Nov. 1, 2010. John was born May 23, 1955 in Denison to Don & Gladys Shearer. He married his grade school sweetheart Lacretia Singleton on Dec. 5, 1973.

John will be remembered as enjoying many sports including sporting clays, bass fishing, four wheeling, remote control airplanes , dirt bike riding , collecting guns, and his yellow softtail Harley motorcycle. He had a passion for mechanics and small engine repairs. John dearly loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren and was lovingly known as "Fatpaw" by them and "Big John" by others.... He worked for over 25 years at Reedrill as a hydrolic mechanic. He touched the lives of everyone he knew in unforgettable ways. "Everyone knew John for his sense of humor." He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his loving wife, his daughter Tamara & husband Jack Hanan of Sherman daughter Brook Shearer of Denison and Bryan Bontempo, granddaughter Madeline Beck, and grandsons Jaxon & Nevin Hanan, Mother Gladys Shearer, brother Mike Shearer and wife Debbie, Rick Shearer and wife Jill, Sister Donna Watson and husband Ron, sister-in-law Debbie Nelson, Mother-in-law Louise Singleton, Sister-in-law Tanya Leonhart, sister-in-law Javana Skelton & Roger, sister-in-law Shanna Kenney & husband Jeff and many nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his father Don Shearer , brothers Larry Nelson & Darrell Shearer all of Denison, father-in-law Ray Singleton and brother-in-law Bob Skelton.
