

Jonathan Norvell West, beloved son, brother and grandson, died Friday night October 19, 2012 in an accident in North Central Arkansas. Jonathan is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. C.E. West of Arkansas and his maternal grandfather, Mr. L.C. Leverette of Denison, Texas.
Jonathan was born on August 22, 1964 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He is survived by his parents Norvell and Linda Leverette West of North Little Rock, Arkansas; his much loved brother Jeffrey Nelson West (Laura) and nephews Alexander, Nicholas and Anthony of Des Peres, Missouri; his loving grandmother Mrs. Minnie Belle Leverette of Denison as well as his aunt Betty Leverette Smith (Don) also of Denison and their daughter and family Susan Vilven (Richard) of Allen, Texas. In addition to mourn his loss are his Arkansas aunts, uncles and cousins who were all so much the joy Jon found in this life.
Jon and his brother Jeff brought so much love and pleasure to their parents. Not a day passed that they have not given thanks for the glory of being Jeff and Jon’s parents.
Jonathan was a true, loyal and honorable friend. He retained life-long relationships with people from his school days, work experiences, and leisure activities. Jonathan had a special place in his life and heart for Andy and Kim Mello and their sons of Humble, Texas. Among his many close friends was John Beard who died in the same accident.
Jon made his home in Humble, Texas, having moved there with his family when he was in the 3rd grade. He graduated from Humble High School and attended San Marcus State University as well as Sam Houston State. Jon received numerous awards and recognitions but no one would ever have heard of them from him. The majority of his career was in air freight and ended it as operations manager.
Funeral Services will be held at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison, TX, Tuesday October 23, at 1:30PM with Rev. Roy Spore of Waples United Methodist Church in Denison, TX, officiating. Interment will be in the Leverette family plot at Fairview Cemetery, 1501 HWY 91 N. in Denison, TX. Following the interment, family, and friends are invited to visit and celebrate Jon’s much too shortened life at the home of Betty and Don Smith at 7390 Preston Road in Dension, Texas.
