Services for Mary J. Bentley Findley, 98, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel in Denison, Texas. She died Monday, April 9, 2018 at a nursing home in Whitesboro, Texas.
The Pastor Danny Broughton of First Baptist Church in Daingerfield Texas will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.
Mrs. Findley was born on Aug. 16, 1919, in Whitesboro, Texas, daughter of William T. Bentley and Emma Brooks Bentley. On Jan. 26, 1941, she married William Morris Findley in Marietta, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1994, after 52 years of marriage.
Mary was an active member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and later Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church, where she actively participated in the Women’s Missionary Union. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and most of her life was dedicated to the Denison Assembly No. 230, Social Order of Beauceant, serving as an active member from 1969 – 2016, holding numerous positions, including president in 1979.
Surviving are her sisters, Nell Bentley Reager of Whitesboro, Patricia Ann Hall Douglas and her husband, Craven Douglas of Flower Mound, and Blair Hall Hysmith Read and her husband Richard Read of Shenandoah, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Mark Thomas Bentley and his wife Jeanne Bentley, and her brother-in-law, Clarence O. Hysmith.
The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
