Texene Velma Shields Teems

The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home for visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Sunday, January 11, 2015.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 12, 2015 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.

Texene was born Wednesday, February 6, 1924 in Wellington, Texas, the youngest child of Joseph Shields and Ida (Hickman) Shields. She was proud to be a Christian and shared her testimony with others. She was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by son James Teems & wife Charlotte of Savoy, son Joe Teems & Terry Doherty of Dallas, daughter Delania Teems of Dallas, son Barry Teems of Denison, granddaughter Jamie Pope & husband Joe, great-granddaughters, Dakota Stone & husband Tanner, Jodi Pope of Savoy, a cherished niece, Georgia Roberson of Savoy, and longtime best friend, Charlotte Simmons of Denison.

Heartfelt thanks to her caregivers at Beacon Hill and the blessing of a dear friendship that she found in Arlene O’Malley, whose late mother had been her roommate at Beacon Hill.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James Paul Teems, 6 siblings including her sister Marie Dyer that went to be with their Lord

just two weeks ago.
