Verna Louise McGowan

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas, with her son, Rev. Chris Cowen officiating.

Verna was born and raised in Mooringsport, Louisiana. She married James W. (Bill) Cowen and he preceded her in death. She later married Bennie McGowan and he preceded her in death also.

Verna is survived by her sons, James W. Cowen, Jr. of Bandera, Texas, and Chris Cowen and his wife, Shara of Sherman, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Jamie LaRue and husband, Dennis of San Antonio, Texas, B.J. Cowen and wife, Jennifer of Odessa, Texas, Christy Gamble and husband, Bill, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Amy Suttle and husband, Will, of Rowlett, Texas. She also had 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

The family is very grateful for the kindness and compassion demonstrated by Verna’s caregivers at the Renaissance in Sherman as well as the ministry of Heart to Heart Hospice.
