Arthur Dennis Cole, Jr. also known as Art or Dennis, loving father, grandfather, and husband, passed away on May 3, 2026. Born on October 30, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, to Arthur Cole, Sr. and Mildred Eva Cole (Kulinec) he was the eldest of nine children. The family relocated several times due to his father's USAF assignments, including overseas in England for a period of time.
Art graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in physics and a minor in math. From there, he worked for several engineering companies throughout his career, including Raytheon and Washington Group International, before retiring in 2012.
Art was a life-long learner who loved reading, math, and physics. He even continued to learn more after he retired where he "audited" college classes for fun, especially in subjects he felt like he was less familiar with. Being a math and science man, his curiosity led him to fill gaps in his knowledge by taking classes like African American Literature.
Art loved to be active and enjoyed running and walking, especially walking his two grandkids in the stroller when they were younger to Starbucks for cake pops. He even took up dance lessons with his wife Kathy to stay active after he retired.
He also loved meeting up with a small group of friends at Starbucks to chat and enjoyed chatting with pretty much anyone as well over a cup of coffee.
Art is survived by his wife Kathy (nee Mauro); his three children, Matthew, Melissa (JJ) and Andrew; his two much loved grandkids, Nora and Benjamin; his siblings, Terri, Jim, John, Kelly, Martha, Nancy and Mary Cole; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, father, and his brother, Rex.
