BARBARA JUNE PALMER, was born, January 21,1931 in Detroit Michigan, to Harvard Heston Palmer and Rachel Annie Palmer. She was born during the depression when her dad had just been laid off from Ford Motor Company, along with many others.
When Barbara was a baby, the family moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and eventually resided in Oklahoma City, where her baby sister, Beth, was born. She attended school there, and graduated from
Central High School in 1949.
She, then, met and fell in love with Charles A Chambers. They married: September 23, 1950. They had three sons: Douglas Charles, Bruce Alan, and Mark David.
Charles was called into full-time ministry, so the entire family (in their trailer), traveled, preached, & sang, in Evangelistic Crusades for about 7 years, all over the US! Much to their credit, all three boys followed them in full time ministry.
At the duration of those traveling years, they were called to build a church, in Aurora, Colorado. Their first building was located at 1381 Iola Street and they named the church: Faith Tabernacle. The church grew, and in 1968, they built a new building at 14895 E Montview Blvd, and the church became: Aurora Faith Tabernacle.
For more than 20 years, during these growing years of the church, she helped administrate, played the accordion, piano and organ, as well as directing Youth & Adult Choirs. She also ministered at several Senior Centers throughout the Aurora area, playing & singing, as well as teaching the Ladies Ministry & helping with Bus Ministry.
During the years at Aurora Faith Tabernacle (on Montview), Barbara attended Jones Real Estate college, and graduated with a real estate degree and worked for Century 21 for over 10 years. She then went back to Aurora Community College and graduated with AA degree in Early Childhood Education. Upon graduation she became the Director of the Church School: Noah's Ark, for over 25 years.
Charles & Barbara, pastored Aurora Faith Tabernacle, for over 40 years. They eventually retired & moved to Southern California, Leisure World. They had many years of happy retirement & enjoying their family.
Barbara, still enjoyed playing the piano & singing in her retirement years. she sang many a solo over the years, with that beautiful, strong alto voice, that people loved, even into her later years! She was in the Leisure World Choir, while also playing & singing for different churches in the area and even in her own Senior Home. By God’s grace she continued singing and playing, until just a few months before her ‘eternal’ homegoing!
She went home to be with Jesus – March 13, 2023. Barbara, was 92 years of age. She is now at home with Jesus & celebrating with her many loved ones who have gone before her.
She loved her family, her children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and greats! She was preceded, in death, by her beloved husband, Charles, her parents, and her son: Mark. She leaves behind: her sister Beth, her sons, families, and niece, plus a host of friends & loved ones!
